Rock-n-Roll Physics

In class, we watched a video about the hadron collider. Essentially, that is a massive circular tube that spans between the border of Switzerland and France use for smashing particles of matter together. By smashing particles together, you can get antimatter. Now I know this sounds like bunches of fun but antimatter is quite dangerous an can be used as a powerful bomb if not handled with care. Don't try this at home (as if you could right?)

The presenter in the video on the hadron collider is a veteran rock star who toured with Jimmy Page, revolutionary Guitarist of Led Zeppelin and my little brother's idol. The presenter was kind of shocking because normally, when you picture physicists, you picture hard-core nerds, not hard-core rockers. Now, if this idea of a rock star physicist sounds unnatural to you, that's because IT IS! Captain Headbanger is a gimmick used by his company to promote the coolness of physics.

If there's one thing I learned, it's that science knows how to market to the younger demographic. Who would have thought?
